You Are What You Eat

Health

Rebecca revised
You are what you eat.  We have all heard this statement many times.  Many of us chuckled as we imagined ourselves as a chunk of cheese or a tangled pretzel.  But, reality hit me today as I was reading a blog on fibromyalgia and someone was saying what a good deal they could get on cheese, ham and sausages.  How great is it to save money on products that will compromise your health?

We get so little nutritional value from the foods we eat today that supplementation is necessary.  Especially when in reality it is “You are What You Assimilate”.  But what are we doing to help digest these foods that we consume?  How can our  bodies be expected to take in this load, disperse and eliminate it while trying to keep our motor running?  People wonder why we break down.  They treat their cars better than they treat their bodies.  You wouldn’t pour sugar in your gas tank and wonder what happened but people think nothing of pouring down a soda with 10 tsp. of sugar when it only takes approximately 4 tsp of sugar to sabotage our immune system.

We have to give thanks every day that we keep functioning with this abused body.  Our parents had a better foundation than we did and were used to preparing their food from scratch while consuming the fruits and vegetables.  Today everything is fast food and the next generation doesn’t stand much of a chance unless we start educating them.  First we have to educate their parents.

If each family member had just one drink a day of  fresh greens mixed with water and a little ginger root in a blender.  This could become a very healthy habit that would grow into a stronger health conscious effort.  Adding a little stevia to this drink or to your fresh lemonade would be a healthy alternative to  alleviate sugar cravings.
